A third generation Washingtonian, Sandra Glazer Lake has lived her entire life in the state. She developed her passion for the art of photography and an appreciation of image reproduction from her early childhood experience of going to her father's camera store.

Sandra's interest in photography expanded into one that included landscape painting when she attended the Banff School of Art (Banff, Canada) following her graduation from Garfield High School.

Her first painting class was with the renowned Canadian artist, Walter Phillips. An entire summer in the Canadian Rockies at the age of seventeen was the decisive factor for Sandra's choice of making art her passion and lifestyle, that of an artist/photographer.

After returning from Banff, Sandra entered the University of Washington School of Art (Walter Isaac, Director) and studied with many important artists, namely: Glen Alps, George Tsutakawa, and Alden Mason. Her work is influenced by these prominent Northwest artists.

Recently Sandra has taken classes in printmaking at the Pratt School in Seattle, and at Sundance in Utah. Learning intaglio printing has given her the opportunity to combine her skills in photography and painting. Exploring her craft, developing her style, and expressing her love of life, color, and form is what motivates Sandra. She is challenged to develop her abilities as an artist, and is continually experimenting with new media for that purpose.

Sandra's work is currently on display at the Painted Ladies Studio in Issaquah, which she shares with Barbara Van Dyke Shuman and Sheila Supplee. Sandra is also a member of the Issaquah Art Collective, showing at the Up Front Gallery in Issaquah.
